Artist Statement 

        

         During my time as a student at Salisbury University I have been able to study abroad, not only once but two times.  These experiences have not only shaped me as a person but as well as help inspire and influence series that I aspire to begin.  As I spent six months living abroad living in Paris, France I got experiences first-hand where many famous artists lived and found their inspirations, where I could find my inspirations.  The differences in culture, history, and my personal emotional rollercoaster are what drew me to this series. 

 

                     My focus is to take these experiences and recreate them in a way that expresses the emotions which I personally felt and lived by being there first-hand.  My plan is to work from photographs that I took myself.  I wanted to use photographs of the places that I had visited, but not just as a memory what I wanted to capture was the emotions experienced living away from home for so long.  While I was away, for the longest time it felt more of a dream world to me, I could barely believe that I was actually living there.  When I finally realized, a lot of emotions hit me at once.  So my goals were to express the emotions I felt in these dream feel landscapes and viewers would be able to get more of a psychological feel from the abstracted landscapes.
