Artist Statement

I have been heavily influenced by Modern Art of the 20th century including artists Pablo Picasso and David Smith. My works are deliberate, chaotic, abstract, and transcend themselves into their own creations; sometimes without any premeditated design. I find that my works are intuitive expressions of emotions that translate physically into biomorphic swirls and geometric shapes as their own written language. As I begin a new piece, I express strokes onto white canvas (or molten glass) expressing how I feel that day or moment.

Adding bright and bold colors keep my visual attention as I work. The love of manipulating and discovering the potential of Acrylic and Hot glass keeps my passion for continuing new works. I thrive on experimentations and “happy accidents” of the materials I work with, finding new ways to use and counteract how they work individually; thus finding new techniques and visual applications of existing mediums. What I wish for the viewer to see when they stand in front of my pieces is their own reflection. I aim for design and expression, but I wish for the viewer to have their own personal perception of what stands before them. After speaking with viewers, these specific reflections continue to feed my creativity for future pieces; beginning the cycle all over again.
